About this nonprofit:
Support relief and recovery efforts in the Abruzzo region of Italy, where a 6.3 quake has killed more than
100 and left 40-50,000 homeless, with tent cities set up to home those who have lost homes.
On April 6, 2009, the deadliest Italian earthquake in over 15 years struck the Abruzzo mountain region of Italy, with the town of L’Aquila at its epicenter. Nearly 300 people killed, more than 1,000 injured, and as many as 65,000 residents displaced. Many of those who lost their homes are still living in tent cities.
GlobalGiving.org is an organization that connects donors with community-based projects that need support. The GlobalGiving Italy Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund focuses on various efforts to rehabilitate the Abruzzo region, which include rebuilding communities, reestablishing local markets to stimulate the local economy and delivering basic necessities such as food, blankets and clothing.
Salvatore Ferragamo is proud to partner with GlobalGiving in this ongoing relief effort. On June 2, Ferragamo menswear designer, Massimiliano Giornetti, along with Debi Mazar and Adrian Grenier, will host a star studded event at the Salvatore Ferragamo boutique in Beverly Hills. Ten percent of the evening’s sales will benefit the Relief and Recovery Fund, while Debi Mazar will lead an enthusiastic group of fashionable and philanthropic influencers in a live auction.
Now is your chance to support the cause with the Celebrity Handbag Auction. Chloë Sevigny is one of America’s coolest and chicest actresses. Her hit films Boys Don’t Cry earned Chloë an Oscar nomination. aside from her big screen talent she is revered by women around the world for her unique sense of style.
Chloë Sevigny - hipster, indie starlet and fashion maverick - has long been admired for her non-conformist approach to acting and fashion. Her fondness for art house flicks has made her America’s reigning indie film queen, but she is as famous (if not more) for her rebellious sense of style. This fashion risk taker is always ahead of the game whether on the red carpet or hanging out in downtown New York. She lends instant style kudos to anything she graces, so much so that she has starred as the face of Louis Vuitton and designed her own collection for cult boutique label Opening Ceremony.
